Akolo was gunned down after a consultative meeting with a PDP House of Assembly Aspirant jostling to represent Ankpa constituency.

Reacting to the death of Akolo, Kogi elders have jointly issued statement of warning to supporters of politicians in the country, especially Kogi State to  play politics according to the rules of the game by standing with the candidates of their choice and avoid blood letting.
Elder Yahaya Abuh, speaking on behalf of others in Ankpa, headquarters of Ankpa local government, at the weekend over the killing of Hon Abel Akolo by unknown gunmen, stated that today’s politics does not warrant blood letting and does not need to be so.

“Nobody should force anybody against his will for support since there are enough evidences for people to follow candidate, noting that you can push the horse to the river but you cannot force it to drink water,” Yahaya stated.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of Kogi State, Police command, Mr William Ayah ASP, stated that though the report had not reached the command as at press time, he would give the details when informed.
